Today I am going to be talking about the educational part of becoming a professional makeup artist. I want to become a professional makeup artist and when you want to become a makeup artist or just start and career, you have to make sure that you like what you do! I decided to start my career in the makeup industry and I have been doing some research about what qualifications you need to become a professional in the makeup industry. When I was doing my research, i came to find out that you don’t need to go to school to become a professional at doing makeup. Some people are naturally good at doing makeup because they have had so much practice. You can get away with being a professional makeup artist without being certified, but; you don’t really have credibility in the industry if you haven't gotten some sort of training.
You might think that going to beauty school is a waste of time because you already know how to blend your eyeshadow, but it's really more than just contouring your face and winging your eyeliner. In beauty school you learn anatomy, which is more in-depth about the skin, hair, and nails. That is where you learn what to do and not do with makeup and other things because it could cause problems like rashes and other things. Another thing that you learn in beauty school is chemistry. Hair color, hair treatments, and other products all have chemicals inside and it is important to know this so that you don’t end up damaging other people’s hair or skin. Business skills are also necessary to learn when you go to beauty school. If you are going to become professional, you need to know how to attract clients.
